The Shire of Stormsport wishes to
invite Combatants and Consorts of the Sylvan Kingdom of Aethelmearc
to our Shire for a day of tournaments.
Join us on Saturday, June 20th
for a celebration of tournaments and pastimes that will not
soon be forgotten. The weekend will include (but not be limited to)
A Grand Norman Melee.
A Gold Chain Tourney sponsored by the Shire of Sunderoak.
The Gold Chain format will be as
follows;

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM - Challenges - In the list, open field, or at the
barrier. Weapons forms and # of passes TBD by combatants.
2:30 - ? - Single elimination tourney
The winner of the Atlantian speed tourney and the winner of the
Single elimination tourney will face each other at the end of the
day to fight for an invitation to compete in the upcoming Amethyst
Invitational Tournament.
A Modern Double Elimination
Tourney.
Youth combat and fencing lists
will be set up if we can get marshals to volunteer for these
endeavors.
For the amusement of the
populace, non-martial activities and hound coursing are being
planned.
The site is the Erie Day School,
1372 W 6th Street, Erie, PA. The site opens at 9 AM with
armour inspections and authorizations starting at 9:30 and the
tourneys beginning at 10:30.
Rules and times for the various
tourneys will be posted at: http://stormsport.org.
A sideboard cooked by Rannveigr
will be provided for the afternoon, but because of the busy schedule
a feast will not be provided.
Now here is the best part.
Because of a slumping economy, we the populace of Stormsport would
like to give you, the good gentles of Aethelmearc, a present. The
cost of this event is free. Yes, you read that correctly, the event
is free. We would appreciate a small donation from each of our
guests to defray some of the costs, but please do not feel obligated
to do so. We would like for everyone to come out and enjoy the day
and not to have to worry about the expense of going to an event.
As always, Merchants are welcome.
Your Autocrat is Alexander Caithnes. (Duane Wilkey – 1605 South
Shore Drive, Erie, PA 16505, phone (814)459-1156, calls before 10 PM
please.) Please send reservations (yes the event is free, but we
would like a heads up as to how many gentles are coming to plan
food) or questions to him.
Directions: South, East and West – Best route
to the intersection of I-79 North and I-90. Get on to I-79 North
heading in to Erie. Stay on I-79 until it turns in to the Bayfront
Parkway. Stay on the Bayfront Parkway until you have passed the
third light (this is 8th Street). The next exit is where
you will turn right (Cranberry Street). Bear to the right until you
get top the top of the hill. Turn right at the stop light on to 6th
Street. The school is on your right after you cross the overpass.
Note: Please note the
change of venue for this event. We were planning on having an
equestrian event, but construction delays have forced us to choose
this alternate site. Never fear, the horses will be back next year
at a new equestrian venue designed for a variety of SCA activities.
